TODAY, 11 AM: Doctors Council, CIR, NYSNA, Elected Officials to rally at Lincoln Hospital and call on Governor Hochul to fund healthcare, tax the rich
450,000 New Yorkers will lose healthcare on July 1. New Yorkers at risk of losing their Essential Plan coverage will speak.
NEW YORK, NY — Today, Friday April 10, unions representing thousands of healthcare workers, patient advocates, and New Yorkers at risk of losing their Essential Plan coverage will come together with the Tax the Rich coalition at Lincoln Hospital to call on the New York State legislature to tax the rich and fund healthcare.
450,000 New Yorkers just received letters that they will lose Essential Plan coverage on July 1. Together with the $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts by the Trump administration, New York’s hospitals and patients face an unprecedented crisis. But Governor Hochul and the legislature have the power to protect healthcare by taxing the rich. We must act as soon as possible to support safety net hospitals and the communities they serve. The time to act to preserve patient care and fully fund our safety net hospitals is now. New York can stand up to Trump by passing a budget that puts patients over profits.
