WHAT: Rally demanding NYU Langone commit to providing life-saving gender-affirming care for all trans patients and showing support for trans youth, families, and all New Yorkers under attack by the Trump administration.
WHY: Gender-affirming care is a vital part of the healthcare that trans patients need. Contrary to the many falsehoods in Trump’s executive order, this care is well-studied and supported by every major medical association in the country. Denying these important medical services to trans patients under the age of 19 compromises the hospital system’s responsibility to prioritize the health and well-being of all its patients. As none of the order’s provisions have an immediate impact on the ability to receive or provide care, there is no legal force behind NYU Langone’s complicity in the Trump administration’s efforts to roll back trans healthcare. Advocates say NYU Langone must reverse course and stand up for its patients.
