FRIDAY, 11 AM: City and State Elected Officials to Announce Support for Statewide Taxes on the Rich & Giving New York City Power to Tax Millionaires
A new Siena poll indicates that a majority of New Yorkers want to tax the rich, including 72% of Democrats.
Mayor Mamdani recently announced giving New York City the power to tax millionaires and large corporations are priorities for the administration in Albany.
NEW YORK, NY — Tomorrow, March 6 at 11 a.m., city and state elected officials alongside a broad coalition of groups, featuring the Invest in Our New York Coalition, Our Time, NYC-DSA, PSC/CUNY, and UAW Region 9A, will call on the legislature and governor to include in the budget both statewide revenue proposals and the Fair Share Act.
Speakers will urge the legislature to adopt broadly popular statewide proposals to increase taxes on the richest New Yorkers and most profitable corporations, in addition to measures to raise city revenue to address the $5.4 billion budget shortfall and enact Mayor Mamdani’s wildly popular affordability agenda.
