Historically, capital and its supporters have used force and intimidation, or the threats of force and intimidation, to stifle dissent and to prevent communities from building grassroots power to challenge the status quo. Political violence – the threat to cause bodily harm and property damage to those who hold differing beliefs and principles – similarly has most often been deployed by the powerful to prevent positive change.
Recognizing this history, NYC-DSA does not support, promote or engage in unlawful activity such as the physical violence or the destruction of property, nor does NYC-DSA support, promote or engage in any violent actions that constitute obstruction of law enforcement. NYC-DSA further does not provide support nor make payments to any person or entity that promotes or engages in physical violence or the promotion of physical violence. Therefore no member may use NYC-DSA resources or act on behalf of NYC-DSA in violation of this policy.
Violations of this policy will be grounds for serious and immediate action as laid out in the NYC-DSA Grievance procedure and Article II, Section 2 of our Constitution.
